The Heart of a Caregiver
Caregiver
This one word holds the love, trust, and strength that shines through in times of intense trials. Many of us know first hand what it’s like to give care to a loved one or what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the caring.
One person who exemplifies the word caregiver is Vince Zangaro. Vince takes care of his father who has Alzheimer’s. Using his passion for music, Vince has created an Alzheimer’s Music Fest in which the proceeds go towards helping caregivers and supplying a community around Alzheimer’s. Here is an excerpt from his website:
“Inspired by families who provide care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease/dementia and for those affected with the disease, The Alzheimer’s Music Fest produces and presents a festival of musicians with diverse musical backgrounds who come together and celebrate the family caregiver. Our goal is to raise funds for those families with limited financial resources, increase awareness about Alzheimer’s disease/dementia, and create a community of supports for these families. Alzheimer’s Music Fest has partnered with Caring Together in Hope, a 501(c)(3) non-profit to ensure net funds raised are used to support Alzheimer’s disease/dementia families who care for their loved one at home.”
On August 23, 2015 The Listening Wall has the privilege of singing in the Alzheimer’s Music Fest at Duluth’s Red Clay Music Foundry. Tickets are available HERE. (The Listening Wall will perform in the Early show at 1:20.)
